Tengo una historia parecida. No sucedió en un libro pero pasó hace poco en la vida real. Fui con A, mi novia, a la inauguración de un taller enorme, creo que para camiones, de uno de mis pacientes. El caso es que este hombre tiene bastante plata, como se dice por ahí, pero tuvo la mala suerte de gastarse un pastón arreglándose la boca para que al poco tiempo, año escaso, tenga yo que sacarle varias piezas y volver a re-arreglársela, sumándole nuevos gastos a los primeros que no fueron pequeños. Su mujer me preguntaba por qué era más barato que el otro dentista y yo le contestaba que era por una razón muy clara: no tengo mercedes, ni barco, ni soy socio de un club de golf. Tengo que ganar para vivir y vivo bien, pero la felicidad para mí reside en cosas tan pequeñitas como poder llevar a mi novia a cenar entre semana o tomarme una cerveza con mi socio al salir de la consulta. A lo mejor es un pensamiento pobre, pero soy un esquimal feliz.

Debo comentarles que es interesante vuestra opinión a lo que debo agregar, si queremos vivir en un mundo equilibrado y sustentable, no debemos adquirir lo que queremos si no basicamente lo que necesitamos, con esto no le quitariamos el delicioso mordisco a un esquimal en el polo norte o a un niño hambriento en Burundi Africa.
